FEATURED TREES

Fruit Trees Made for Rancho Bernardo Yards

Rancho Bernardo shares North County's warm, inland climate with our Vista yard.

That means nearly everything we grow will feel right at home.

Availability changes often. Check our inventory or call 760-434-5085 before you make the drive.

AVOCADO

Hass, Fuerte and Reed Avocados

North County is avocado country, and Rancho Bernardo hillsides are no exception. Hass dominates commercial groves. Fuerte and Reed add flavor variety and season length. Plant on slopes for good drainage.

In our yard: Hass, Fuerte, Reed, Lamb Hass, Mexicola

LYCHEE

Mauritius and Brewster Lychee

Lychee likes warm summers and a dry, cool winter, much like inland North County. Mauritius is a reliable bearer. Brewster has large, bright red fruit. Protect young trees from hot Santa Ana wind.

In our yard: Mauritius, Brewster, Kaimana, Hak Ip

GRAPEFRUIT

Cocktail and MeloGold Grapefruit

Inland heat helps grapefruit develop real sweetness. Cocktail Pink is juicy and easy to peel. MeloGold is a sweet pomelo-grapefruit cross. Both make excellent fresh juice.

In our yard: Cocktail Pink, MeloGold, Oro Blanco, Star Ruby, Texas Star

PEACH

Babcock, Santa Barbara and Saturn Peaches

Low-chill peaches fruit well in Rancho Bernardo's mild winters. Saturn is the flat donut peach with white, sugary flesh. Santa Barbara is a large yellow peach with classic flavor.

In our yard: Babcock Giant, Santa Barbara, Saturn, EZ Pick Donut Star Saturn, Peachy Keen

LOQUAT

Gold Nugget and Vista White Loquat

Loquat is evergreen, tough and one of the first fruits of spring. Gold Nugget has orange, apricot-like fruit. Vista White is pale and very sweet. Call to confirm current sizes before you drive over.

In our yard: Gold Nugget, Vista White

PERSIMMON

Fuyu-Type Persimmons for Fall

Our Jiro Fuyu persimmon is crunchy, sweet and eaten like an apple. Hachiya ripens soft and is ideal for baking. Fall leaves add a burst of orange near Lake Hodges.
