BANANA
Ice Cream, Lady Finger and Raja Puri Bananas
Bananas grow fast and bring instant tropical style to a coastal yard. Ice Cream bananas have blue-green skin and a creamy, vanilla texture. Lady Finger fruit is small, thin-skinned and sweet.
In our yard: Ice Cream, Lady Finger, Raja Puri, Enano Gigante, Dwarf Apple
WHITE SAPOTE
Sue Belle White Sapote
White sapote handles cool coastal summers better than many tropicals. Sue Belle bears custard-textured fruit that tastes of vanilla and pear. It grows into a generous shade tree.

TROPICAL GUAVA
Hawaiian and Strawberry Guavas
Tropical guavas fill a garden with sweet fragrance when the fruit ripens. Hawaiian Red and Pink types are great for juice. Strawberry guava fits small spaces. Giant Vietnamese is crisp, like an apple.

COFFEE
Red Oaxaca Coffee Plant
Yes, coffee grows in coastal San Diego with partial shade. We often carry Red Oaxaca coffee in large sizes. White blossoms smell like jasmine, followed by bright red cherries.

ROSE APPLE
Rose Apple and Wampi
Rose apple tastes and smells like rosewater. It is uncommon in California nurseries. Wampi is a small citrus relative with tangy, grape-sized fruit. Both make good conversation trees.
In our yard: Rose Apple, Wampi
DRAGON FRUIT
White and Pink Dragon Fruit
Dragon fruit flowers bloom at night and can be the size of a dinner plate. Grow it up a sturdy post on a sunny La Jolla terrace. Pink varieties have the brightest flesh color.
